Louie was born in Vineland, N.J. on 13 December 1924. He was Killed-In-Action, in Korea, on 22 October 1951.

Louie was the pilot of an F-80C, Shooting Star, Fighter Interceptor, with the 35th FBS, 8th FBG.

On 22 October 1951, while on a Combat Mission, his aircraft received a direct hit, by anti-aircraft fire, exploded in mid-air and crashed near Koma-dong and Hoechang, North Korea.

For his Leadership and Valor, First Lieutenant Esposito, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross; the Air Medal; the Purple Heart; the Korean Service Medal; the United Nations Service Medal; the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.

Major Bean, was the Squadron CC, at the time, and - I was a Flight Commander and flew that same mission with Louie. He was a Very Fine Officer and Fighter Pilot and was missed by us all!

A really interesting site, well done. We really miss Utah and especially yourselves and your family, you must be very proud of them. They have been a great support in times of need, surely as a result of their upbringing!. The “flying thing” must be in the family’s blood, with Jack Jnr. climbing to the dizzy heights of ATP. One day I will be back to complete my PPL with him!. Take good care of yourselves and hopefully one day we can once again share a glass of Chivas around the fire in your back yard.
